Hand-Drawn Custom Pet Portraits

A custom hand-drawn portrait is a timeless way to celebrate the love and bond you share with your pet. Each portrait is personally hand-drawn by me in my Philadelphia studio with professional-grade colored pencils—never printed or AI-generated. I carefully work from your submitted photographs to capture the unique personality, expression, and little details that make your pet so special.

Whether you're honoring a beloved companion, creating a memorial to cherish their memory, or simply adding a meaningful piece of art to your home, it would be a true honor to create something special for you and your family.

These custom portraits also make thoughtful, heartfelt gifts for the animal lover in your life, creating a keepsake that can be treasured for generations.

I create realistic hand-drawn portraits of dogs, cats, horses, rabbits, birds, reptiles, and more. My goal is to capture the unique beauty, personality, and spirit of every animal I draw.

I'm Alexis Grant, a graduate of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA), and I've specialized in creating custom pet portraits since 2011. Every portrait is drawn entirely by hand in my Philadelphia studio and receives my full attention from start to finish.

You will receive a photo of your completed portrait before it ships, ensuring you're completely happy with your artwork before I apply the final protective finish. Every portrait is carefully created by hand and thoughtfully packaged to ensure it arrives safely.

How to Order

Place your order, and you'll receive a confirmation form where you can upload your pet's photos.

If you'd like to discuss your reference photos before ordering, you're always welcome to email me at lexannegrant@gmail.com. I'm happy to help you choose the best image for your portrait.

Once I receive your order, I'll personally review your photos and reach out shortly to confirm I have everything I need before I begin.

I generally prefer to work from one clear reference photo to achieve the most accurate likeness of your pet. Additional photos are always welcome for color or detail reference, but combining multiple photos into one portrait can sometimes reduce likeness due to differences in lighting, camera angles, and perspective.

For the best reference photo:

  • Take your photo outdoors in natural daylight.

  • Avoid harsh direct sunlight and heavy shadows.

  • Photograph your pet at eye level whenever possible.

  • Choose a photo where your pet's eyes are sharp and in focus.

These details help me capture your pet's true colors, expression, and personality.

Each portrait is hand-drawn on heavyweight, acid-free drawing paper using professional-grade graphite pencils.

Shipping & Care

Your custom artwork will be carefully packaged and shipped flat between sturdy protective boards to prevent bending during transit.

All drawings are shipped unframed. Each piece is sealed with a professional fixative to help protect against smudging and fading. For long-term preservation, I recommend displaying your artwork in a matted frame with glass.

Until your drawing is framed, please keep it flat between the protective shipping boards to prevent creases or bending. To help preserve your artwork for years to come, avoid displaying it in direct sunlight, as prolonged UV exposure can cause fading. Artwork on paper is best kept in a temperature-controlled environment away from excess heat and humidity.

Sharing Your Portrait

I may occasionally share work-in-progress videos or photographs of completed portraits on my website and social media (@alexisannegrant). If your portrait is intended as a surprise gift, please let me know and I'll be happy to keep it private until it has been received.

Thank you so much for considering me to create your pet's portrait. I know how much our animals mean to us, and it is truly an honor to create artwork that celebrates the love you share.
